What is POMO?

The Penchick Online Mathematical Olympiad (POMO) is a student-initiated contest created by members of the Training Server for the Philippine Mathematical Olympiad Discord server.

It is aimed towards developing olympiad problem-solving skills — encouraging creativity, abstract reasoning, and critical thinking. POMO is completely free and open to all students worldwide.

POMO currently runs three competition tracks:

  • Junior POMO (JPOMO) — for students beginning their math contest journey
  • POMO Main — our flagship multi-part qualifying exam
  • POMO Proof Contest (POMOPC) — a proof-writing focused competition open to all

Eligibility

A participant is considered eligible if they are Grade 12 and below during the school year 2025–2026 (i.e., eligible for PMO28), regardless of country.

However, grade school, high school, and students who have already graduated high school are all allowed to participate in any POMO contest — only award eligibility differs.

POMO Proof Contest (POMOPC)

A proof-writing competition for students who want to develop rigorous mathematical communication and argumentation skills.

  • Senior Division — single exam
  • Junior Division — two-part exam
No qualifying score required. Open to all participants regardless of POMO Main standing.

General Rules

  1. Do not discuss a currently ongoing contest. Leaking the questionnaire, sharing answers, or asking for help during the contest period will result in a yellow card.
  2. Always exhibit academic honesty. Do not use calculators, protractors, graph paper, search engines, AI software, or other external applications while answering. Rulers, compasses, and blank or lined paper are allowed.

Violation System

  1. Violation of any rule results in a yellow card.
  2. Two yellow cards result in a red card — disqualification from the contest where the red card is given.
    • Serious offenses (e.g., concrete evidence of cheating) result in an immediate red card.
  3. Warnings reset at the beginning of every contest season.

During the Contest

  • Maximize your screen to see both the PDF and form properly.
  • Click Submit BEFORE the timer ends. Answers do NOT auto-save — write them on paper as backup.
  • For short-answer questions, input only the number (positive integers 1–999). Do NOT include leading zeros.
After submitting, upload your scratch papers to the scratch paper form indicated on the website. This is required to receive results.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Create an account at penchickomo.replit.app/register by filling out all required fields, then log in.

  2. Go to Contests, select the contest you want to join, then click Register (and fill in the necessary details if applicable).

Honor Pledge

I affirm that I will abide by the rules and regulations of the Penchick Online Math Olympiad (POMO), where my participation implies that:

  1. I will work independently during my designated 3-hour contest window and will not use any calculators, protractors, notes, search engines, AI tools, and other external aids;
  2. I will not discuss any of the problems, answers, or solutions related to POMO to anyone until the official contest period has concluded;
  3. I understand that any violation of the rules above will merit an immediate disqualification from this round of POMO; and
  4. I am aware that the purpose of the POMO exam is to honestly evaluate my mathematical performance under authentic testing conditions. Any form of cheating not only defeats this purpose, but disrespects the organizers, problem-setters, and participants.

I have fully read, understood, and agree to follow the honor pledge above.
